Cuban-born Portuguese national Pedro Pablo Pichardo, Olympic champion, confirmed himself this Saturday as the best triple jumper of the moment by winning the final of the Oregon Athletics World Championships with 17.95 meters. Pichardo, of Cuban origin, needed only one attempt to achieve the best mark of the season and demonstrated his great athletic form with the other two best jumps of the final; 17.92 in his second attempt, and 17.57, in the third. In the sixth round, with the gold secured, he made 17.51.
