DVD Dedicated to the Music of Ernesto Lecuona

The DVD Al fin Lecuona, performed by baritone Ulises Aquino, Ópera de la Calle and other guest musicians, was included by the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Egrem) in its phonographic and audiovisual catalog.

Under the production of Aquino and maestro Enrique Pérez Mesa, the work comprises a concert performed at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso, with the orchestral arrangements undertaken in previous decades by pianist and flutist Rembert Egües, for the works of Ernesto Lecuona, reported Prensa Latina.

Likewise, maestro Frank Fernández, soloists and choir of the Ópera de la Calle company, soprano Laura Ansorena, tenor Humberto Bernal and Cuban-American violinist Jaime Jorge, accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional, exercise their influence in the film proposal.

The great variety of genres for diverse formats, vocal and instrumental, and relevant compositions such as: Siboney, Malagueña, Siempre en mi corazón and Damisela Encantadora, are gathered in the great legacy and catalog of Lecuona, who was also recognized in an Egrem note as the most universal of composers on the Island.

René Arencibia, audiovisual producer, captured in images the concert titled Lecuona y La Habana, which took place in the Sala García Lorca, material that earned the Award for Artistic Excellence in the Cubadisco 2020-2021 edition.

Once recorded in 2019, Al fin Lecuona was distributed on digital platforms a year later, and compiles the most celebrated creations of the also author of La comparsa, El crisantemo, Mariposa and the zarzuelas Rosa la China, María la O and El cafetal.
