Farewell to Farah María, The Gazelle of Cuba

On Thursday, January 14, there was the final farewell to the beloved and renowned Cuban singer Farah María, who was an icon of the musical stage of the Island since the nineteen sixties of the last century. Farah passed away in Havana on December 30 at the age of 76.

The funeral ceremony of Cuba's gazelle took place in a family gathering with very close friends.

The Teatro de Variedades América, a venue located in the Cuban capital and the same place where Farah María performed many times to delight her followers, was the meeting place for her relatives to carry out the funeral honors of the Cuban artist.

The theater doors were open from nine in the morning for those who wished to say their final goodbye and honor her memory, respecting biosecurity measures.

Artists from the city and friends of Farah María attended the ceremony, expressing their condolences to her family and highlighting the personality of that incredible woman.

Singer and composer Héctor Téllez told Cuban television that his affection for Farah María was like that of siblings; they shared ideas about art and beyond that, they were friends who shared their personal anecdotes.

Hugo Oslé, director of the Mariana de Gonich singing academy, also spoke about Farah's artistic career and personality, affirming that she was part of the cultural activities of his academy and that she was present during her growth as an artist.

Farah María's daughter, who bears the same name, also said touching words to her mother, assuring that she will be proud of her people who love her and are accompanying her in her final farewell.

Notable figures in the arts also made an appearance at the funeral ceremonies, including artistic director Raúl de la Rosa, director of entertainment and Radio Taíno Lázaro Caballero, director of Teatro América Jorge Alfaro, among others.

Through the Facebook social network account Farah Maria por Siempre, they published touching messages and photographs as a way to share this moment with her followers.

Farah María became the owner of the stages and the hearts of Cubans and conducted artistic tours through Italy, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Spain, among other countries.

Farah María had more than 500 songs in her portfolio, recorded in Cuba. She also participated as an actress in Cuban films such as "El jinete sin cabeza" and "Verde verde".
