Despaigne connects fifth home run in 2022

THE CUBAN Alfredo Despaigne hit his fifth home run in the 2022 Japanese Professional Baseball League (JPBL) this Wednesday.

The slugger from Granma drove in only one run with his hit and his effort was insufficient to prevent the 3x17 defeat of his SoftBank Hawks against the Rakuten Eagles at the Civic Stadium in Kitakyushu.

Despaigne homers for the third time in the last four games, has raised his average to .259 and his total RBIs to seven.

His compatriot and teammate Yurisbel Gracial, who had not played since June 24 after testing positive for covid-19, failed in a pinch-hitting appearance and lowered his average to .291.

The Hawks remain at the top of the Pacific League of the JPBL with a record of 44 wins, 38 losses and one tie.
