General Álvaro López Miera Appointed New Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces

An Official Statement informs that at the proposal of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, and of the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the Council of State approved releasing from the position of Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces -FAR- Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frías, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, who possesses an extensive and brilliant record of service to the Homeland.

From an early age Cintra Frías served as a combatant of the Rebel Army, and also progressed from the base through the chain of command of military units, successfully carrying out honorable internationalist missions and high responsibilities in the FAR.

New Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces Appointed

The Official Statement declares that the Council of State also approved the proposal to promote to the position of Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, who was serving as First Vice Minister and Chief of the General Staff, who possesses a long and fruitful trajectory.

From a very young age Álvaro López Miera was part of the Rebel Army, held various positions through the chain of command, and distinguished himself in his participation in important internationalist missions and in his performance in high responsibilities in the Revolutionary Armed Forces.

The Official Statement adds that Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frías will be assigned other tasks.
