Díaz-Canel's wishes on turning 60: "May medicine and science defeat death"

Three questions posed to the President of the Republic of Cuba on his birthday

1- Today you turn 60 years old. If you could blow out candles, what would be your greatest wish?

–That we save the Homeland from this situation and help the world overcome the pandemic in a short time. To embrace loved ones again. That children can return to their schools and their games. That medicine and science defeat death.

2- How is the national plan against COVID-19 progressing? Is the Government satisfied?

–Our plan is moving forward. We can get ahead of the worst moment to prevent it from arriving. If you review the model you will see that we are below the midline, although above the ideal.

"We are not satisfied, but we are proud: of our health and science personnel and also of the Government. From the municipalities, the effort is colossal. The results could be better without the Yankee blockade and if there were greater responsibility and commitment from those who today do not perceive risk. Science and conscience are our strength".

3- What miracle makes it possible for us to be better than the rest of the Americas in confronting COVID-19 being the most punished by the blockade policy and the new threats from the Trump Administration?

–It is not a miracle. It is socialism. It is the work of Fidel, of Raúl, of the historical generation, of the Party and of the Cuban people. It is Cuba, this wonderful planet where I was fortunate to be born.
