Cuban forward Marcel Hernández, who plays for the Cartaginés club, was selected as the best foreign player of the 2020 Clausura Tournament in the first division of Costa Rican football.
The ceremony had low attendance, in compliance with the hygienic measures and sanitary protocols established by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of Covid-19, which severely affects the Central American nation.
By vote of the public, press, and experts, the best players were chosen in the different categories defined for the 2019 Apertura and 2020 Clausura tournaments, with Marcel being awarded as the best foreign player in the latter. The Cuban striker was the second top scorer of the 2020 Clausura Tournament and became a fundamental piece of Cartaginés, which competed until the last moment to secure a place in the final.
The most important awards were achieved by players from the Herediano teams, winner of the 2019 Apertura, and Saprissa, winner of the 2020 Clausura.
