Dedicate Fifth International Guitar Meeting in Cuba to Leo Brouwer

The musical event will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Cuban maestro Leo Brouwer and the program of activities will span the provinces of Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.

Exchanges of experiences and opinions about new trends and guitar style will have spaces in the V Guitar Identities Encounter, which begins today in Havana with the participation of musicians from more than ten countries.


With the sponsorship of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the event will extend until February 2nd with guests such as guitarist Ernesto García and the children's group Cenzontle (Mexico), The Accidental Trio (United States) and the trio Shaman (Costa Rica).


Among the musical formations of the largest of the Antilles stand out the National Symphonic Orchestra, under the direction of Enrique Pérez, the Orchestra of the Conservatory of Santiago de Cuba and the Guitar Ensemble Orchestra.


Until February 2nd, the musical event will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Cuban maestro Leo Brouwer and the program of activities will span the provinces of Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba, with performances in the halls of the Tomás Terry Theater and the Dolores hall.


In this edition of the Guitar Identities Encounter, the promotion of other string instruments such as tres, lute and electric guitar in the most diverse genres and styles is planned.

According to organizers of this event, various conferences and master classes will foster cultural exchange between established musicians and students from Cuba's artistic education centers.
