The debut in Serbia of Cuban trumpeter Alexander Abreu and his band Havana D´Primera, on July 24, generated great expectation in that European nation.
Serbian media outlets announced the show several weeks in advance. They referred to the success of his concerts in New York, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires and Montevideo and the Latin Grammy nomination in the best salsa album category with his most recent album, 'Cantor del Pueblo', and praised the two previous productions, 'La Vuelta al Mundo' and 'Haciendo Historia'.
Lovers of Cuban music in the city of Belgrade, called the capital of salsa in the Western Balkans, received almost daily information about the characteristics of the Cuban group and extensive commentary about the compositional and instrumental talents of its founder and director.
The presentation was organized by the Youth House of the city, in cooperation with the label Binta Sound, and both institutions referred to the visitors as the best Cuban salsa ensemble of the new generation of musicians on the island.
"Alexander Abreu and Havana D'Primera are a true musical sensation from Cuba and it is a great privilege to see and hear an orchestra of this type in Belgrade," stated Igor Vince, a renowned and multifaceted Belgrade musician. With his band 'Drum, Brass, And Keys', he will open the show.
