David Blanco celebrates 20 years with his band

Sponsored by Artex, Artistic and Literary Promotions and its agencies Musicalia and Bis Music, last Friday a press meeting was held at the El Tablao Cultural Center, where several of the actions that make up the project "La tierra de mis amores" were unveiled, with which the 20th anniversary of the founding of David Blanco's Band will be celebrated this year. David Blanco is a musician, composer, performer, producer and creator of audiovisual projects and television programs of great popularity and attendance in Cuba.

Ángel Luis Hernández, Vice President of Artex, opened this meeting, affirming that accompanying David Blanco in his artistic work through the Musicalia and Bis Music Agencies for 20 years has been a luxury for Artex. He recalled that as early as March 16, 2020, so soon after the start of the pandemic, the author of Evolución held his first online concert.

Likewise, he expressed that being part of the Backstage project and the campaign "La tierra de mis amores" for this anniversary was a duty that Artex greatly enjoyed, because his art, in addition to having aesthetic quality of the highest level, has the quality of being suitable for all ages.

For her part, Ela Ramos, General Manager of the Bis Music record label, recalled David's arrival at Bis in 2001, trying to convince everyone with thousands of projects to materialize, and how, in accounting for the time that had passed, she felt the satisfaction that the label had produced from his first album, Tengo para dar, to the most recent, Feudalismo Moderno, to which is added the recording of a concert for this anniversary, recorded at the Castillo del Morro just days ago.

Ramos took the opportunity to present a flash drive that pays tribute to this celebration with a new format, whose content is made up of a David concert at the Karl Marx Theater, a greatest hits collection of 24 songs that includes the two tracks from his most recent production, photos, a selection of extras that includes the Súmate a mi show programs from Bis Music and more personal moments of his interaction with the members of his band, which will serve to promote and market his work in his live performances.

Matilde Valdivieso, General Manager of the Artistic Representations Agency, commented to those present that David and his group brought prestige to the agency. And that in times of pandemic, accompanying him in projects like Backstage, a television program on social networks, and organizing artistic programming, national and international tours with a view to the future, have been duties, pride and satisfaction. She reported that among the celebration projects, a national tour has been organized for when normalcy resumes, in conjunction with the Cuban Institute of Music and the UJC, which includes concerts at important venues and public squares in addition to Artex cultural centers, as well as in disadvantaged municipalities.

This tour should conclude at the Staircase of the University of Havana. She also added that an international tour aimed at the Spanish market will be resumed as soon as conditions allow; and she thanked David for his love for Cuba. For his part, the protagonist of this meeting felt honored by so much praise and asserted that he is the result of Cuban artistic education. He shared with everyone his feelings of euphoria and gratitude to Artex for accompanying him during the pandemic and understanding him in this new stage, where he had to reinvent the way he provides his art.

It is from precisely this that the Project "La tierra de mis amores" emerges, which includes part of the actions mentioned by each of those who preceded him. He commented feeling surprised when he held his first online concert and had 16,000 people present in real time. For this reason he began to use this new way, and Backstage, a television program on social networks, emerged. He took the opportunity to announce that this program will be broadcast on Cuban television and that he is already beginning to work as a director on a second season in which he will have the presence of Alaín Pérez, Isis Flores, Athanay, Ernesto Blanco and among the Backstage on Wheels, he will speak about Danzón, about the film dedicated to Benny Moré.

Likewise, he thanked his team and designers Gabi Pérez and Víctor as well as photographer Laura Bastillero for the graphic result of the flash drive, to Ruedas Producciones for accompanying him in concerts, to Alejandro Pérez for the realization of the video Yo soy el Punto Cubano, a theme that has accompanied Cuba in this strong period. In this meeting which also had the presence of Eladio Marrero President of Artex and Indira Fajardo, President of the Cuban Institute of Music, David Blanco also outlined the immediate projects to be carried out as part of "La Tierra de mis amores," which includes the DB brand (David Blanco) and a line of youth clothing under the name Punto cu in which he shows several design ideas created by him and which in a first stage will present classic suits, guayaberas, shirts, thanks to the alliance of Artex with the Model Confections Company, which will be marketed in the Artex store network throughout the country.

Finally, he affirmed having realized one of his dreams for his 20th anniversary, which was to record a concert at the Morro, starting at 6 in the morning because he wanted to show the world his country, the testimony of the beautiful images of the sunrise in Havana. This concert, he asserted, he did with the intention that young people continue loving Cuba, that after the pandemic they continue moving forward, so that youth continue loving Cuban music, rumba, son, chachachá, which he fuses with rock, without losing its roots, leaving them a message of optimism and affirming that all of this comes from his love for Cuba.

After answering journalists' questions, he concluded by asserting that he will continue working to develop and publicize Cuban music and its culture, in and from Cuba, to international stages and thanked everyone for their collaboration in the realization and promotion of his work during these 20 years.
