Daiana García and the Chamber Orchestra of Havana on their Anniversary

The Chamber Orchestra of Havana, under the direction of maestro Daiana García, is preparing the show "Hollywood Classics" for May 28th at the Martí Theater in Havana. The concert will be musically directed by composer, pianist and arranger, Pepe Gavilondo.

"Daiana and I have been imagining this concert for a long time, so much so that it's hard to believe that its moment is almost here. It is a very special gift for all lovers of Hollywood films, those that are engraved in our minds and that are part of our lives, our imaginations, our fantasies," Gavilondo wrote on his Instagram account.

The program will include pieces by renowned composers of classic film soundtracks such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Alan Anthony Silvestri, Alexandre Desplat, among others.

For the occasion, pianist Aldo López-Gavilán, clarinetist Alejandro Calzadilla, wind instrumentalists from the National Symphonic Orchestra and the Entrevoces Choir, under the direction of maestro Digna Guerra, were invited.

Hollywood-produced films have been a constant on Cuban television and cinema, which through various programs or festivals have always had the projection of such cinematographic classics in mind.

From Film History to Saturday's Film, among many other programs, residents in Cuba have been able to see, more or less in time for their release, or even more than once, films such as The Godfather, Jaws, ET, among other movies, which contain a recognizable and unforgettable soundtrack for audiences.

The melodies that will be performed at the Martí Theater concert, while they may not be known by name and author, will certainly be easily identifiable as soon as they sound next Sunday, as many are, without a doubt, part of the soundtrack of Cubans.

With almost twenty years since its founding, the Chamber Orchestra of Havana has maintained a quality musical repertoire and in constant exchange with prestigious national and international musicians.

For his part, Pepe Gavilondo, musician and composer, also stands out for his work in groups such as Síntesis, his own grouping Ensemble Interactivo de La Habana, as well as in composing soundtracks for young Cuban cinema.
