Her unmistakable voice, her eternal smile and the age that is the best-kept secret about perpetual youth are part of the characteristics that make the Cachita from Vivir del Cuento unique or the unforgettable voice behind characters like María Silvia and Eutelia, from Elpidio Valdés.

For the past 20 years she has hosted her program Entre tú y yo.

Born in Havana on July 24, 1953, she took her first steps toward art at the School of Actor Training at the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television in 1971.

She has dedicated much of her work to children's programming.
Her unmistakable and tender voice led her to alternate her work as an actress with that of a radio announcer for several years, although Irela has worked in all genres, from film, theater and television.

She participated in the adventures El Halcón, alongside the late Jorge Villazón. She has also participated in novels, teleplays, series, and in recent years her role as Cachita in the humorous series Vivir del Cuento.

She always wanted to be an actress, but not to play the roles of slaves or maids, as happened before; she wanted bigger roles than being someone everyone felt sorry for.

The youngest also recognize Irela for her voice in animated films, bringing to life characters like María Silvia and Eutelia, from Elpidio Valdés, and the astute investigator Fernanda. This is one of the most rewarding aspects for the actress, who began her career in art at the Radio Progreso station.

For Irela there are no big or small roles, because in all of them you grow to do them with excellence.

Despite seeing her in recent years more frequently on television, the medium where she feels most comfortable is radio, as she says that there she must be able to build a character with only her voice.

As for the mystery of her age, many think it is the best-kept secret of television in Cuba. However, few know where this joke came from.

"It was all a joke by Mario Aguirre while we were filming Entre tú y yo, which Jorge Alí and Carlos Otero continued. From there rumors started that I had surgery, and that is not true, and for me it is now like a game, it amuses me and I have assumed it calmly," she revealed her age a few years ago in an interview.
