The Cuban Jasiel Rivero contributed 10 points today in his club Hereda San Pablo Burgos's victory with a score of 101-79 against CB Canarias, in the second phase of the Basketball Champions League, one of the highest-level tournaments in Europe.
For the cause of the Burgos team, current champions of that tournament, Rivero had great effectiveness in just over 11 minutes of action, making two of three attempts from close range and from beyond the arc, in a match in which he also captured three rebounds and provided one assist.
In that game between Spanish teams, held at the Coliseum Burgos, the home team dominated the first quarter with a wide lead of 32-20, and although they lost the second 25-28, they prevailed in the third and fourth periods with scores of 24-13 and 20-18.
According to collective statistics, the Burgos team achieved 60 percent (%) effectiveness in field goal attempts, with 36 baskets in 60 shots, and in three-point attempts they had an excellent 51.5% (17/33), combined with 70.6% in free throws.
In the case of CB Canarias, they were only better from the free throw line with 84%, the result of 21 makes in 25 attempts.
Moving on to individual performances, four players from the winning team achieved double digits offensively, with Thaddus Mcfadden being the leading scorer with 17 points, followed by captain Vitor Benite (14) and Maksim Salash who finished with 10 just like Cuban Rivero, as reflected on Hereda San Pablo Burgos's Twitter account.
On the opposing side, Sasu Salin (21) made the greatest contribution, followed by his teammate Giorgi Shermadini (12).
With this Tuesday's success, the Burgos team stood alone at the top of Group J with two wins and no losses, and next are CB Canarias and KK Igokea, from Bosnia, both with a record of 1-1; while in last place is VEF Riga (0-2), from Latvia.
