Cuban Miguel Ángel López, best volleyball player in the world in 2023

Cuban Miguel Ángel López has been recognized as the best volleyball player in the world by the distinguished statistical website Volleybox.

Leader of the stellar selection of the Greater Antilles, López ranks in the men's ranking of the accredited website with 955 points, thanks to his individual and collective results.

Following the corner player from Cienfuegos are Polish opposite Lukasz Kaczmarek (785), Brazilian libero Maique Nascimento (762.50) and Cuban naturalized Pole Wilfredo León (698).

The "Flying Cuban," as they baptized him in the Brazilian league, displays considerable individual results and with the national team and Sada Cruzeiro club jerseys, all of which was taken into account for the 2023 distinction.

López was instrumental in the sky blue team's triumphs in the Mineiro championship, the superliga, the Brazil cup and the South American club tournament, as well as in the runners-up finish in the Brazil super cup.

With the Cuban team, the title is counted in the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023; bronze medals in the Norceca championship and the world pre-Olympic tournament; fourth place in the XIX Pan American Games in Santiago 2023 and thirteenth place in the Nations League.

Individually, Miguel Ángel was the top scorer and best attacker in Santiago 2023; the most outstanding in service points in the Norceca tournament; and the most valuable player in the South American club tournament and the Brazilian superliga, in which he also won the service and attack awards.

Volleybox announced Cuban naturalized Turk, opposite Melissa Vargas, as best player of the year with 1,100.50 points, the only one in the ranking above one thousand. She is followed by Brazilian Gabriela Guimaraes (921.50) and Dominican Brayelín Martínez (634.80).
