For the Cuban Jasiel Rivero, basketball is his greatest passion and today, from Spain, he makes the best play by complying with sanitary measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rivero is one of two basketball players from the largest of the Antilles who are currently showcasing their talent in Europe, and in his debut he is already making headlines within the San Pablo Burgos roster.
'Arriving in Burgos has been great for the growth of my game, it is no less true that the league is difficult and very competitive, but this stage is one of learning and little by little I am getting a feel for it,' he expressed to Prensa Latina via internet.
At 26 years old, the Cuban international amazed everyone after competing in club tournaments in Uruguay and Argentina. Amid rumors about possible interest from the Dallas Mavericks team, he commented: 'The news surprised me like it did everyone, no one has told me anything, it's just speculation, I'm doing well in Burgos and I am grateful to them for the opportunity to live this experience, I still have much to learn.'
The pivot, originally from the Cuban capital, left at the time of the pause in Spain's ACB League with an average of 6.8 points and three rebounds per game; meanwhile, in the Champions League he displayed an average of 9.9 points and 5.4 rebounds under the boards.
'It's five weeks of isolation and although it is difficult I comply with all the measures to beat quarantine, now it's time to be at home and as an athlete I do physical exercises to not lose my competitive form,' he highlighted.
