Cuban canoeist Yarisleidis Cirilo won the gold medal on Friday in the C-1 at 200 meters competition, during the World Canoeing Championship being held in Germany.
Cirilo crossed the finish line with a time of 44 seconds and 799 hundredths, beating Spanish Antia Jacome (45.418) and Chinese Wenjun Lin (45.623), silver and bronze medalists.
In this way, the Caribbean athlete adds her fourth world medal, as she already had one medal of each color in the two-seater canoe, but on a personal level she only had victories in world cups.
The Cuban will paddle this Saturday alongside Yinnoly López in the final of the C-2 at 500 meters competition, where she also has great chances of reaching the podium.
In this way, Cuba's best athlete of the year in 2022 qualifies for the Paris Olympic Games, from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
"I just saw it, very good. She has more than enough material to win in Paris 2024", commented to JIT Serguey Torres Madrigal, who is following the championship from a distance.
"I'm super happy. It's my sport and every medal by a Cuban fills me with satisfaction", said the man who for years led canoeing on the Island.
Last year, Cirilo and Katherin Nuevo were crowned in the C2-200 meters at the world championship held in Halifax, Canada.
