Cuban actress Ana de Armas appears today on the 2022 list of American magazine Variety, which each year selects the 500 most influential leaders in the audiovisual world.
Evidently, her performances as Melinda Van Allen in Deep Water; Dani Miranda in The Gray Man; and as Norma Jeane/Marilyn Monroe in Blonde; all successful films this year, earned her entry, for the first time, into the select group.
In the case of Blonde, although the film's trajectory after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival was not as successful as expected, critics have been generous with praise for De Armas and agree that the young woman established herself as a great actress in the role of that Hollywood icon.
Also appearing among the 500 are singers Beyoncé, Bad Bunny, Rihanna and Taylor Swift, as well as filmmakers Guillermo del Toro, James Cameron, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
Other new names added to the list are those of Olivia Wilde, director of the film Don't Worry Darling, and its star Harry Styles; as well as actors Miles Teller for his role in Top Gun: Maverick, and Jessica Chastain, for her first Oscar with the feature film Tammy Faye's Eyes.
