Cuban Actress Danay Cruz, Known for Her "Lola Mento" Character, Announces First Pregnancy

Cuban actress and comedian Danay Cruz, known for her popular satirical character "Lola Mento Guasimita," announced on July 25, 2026, that she is expecting her first child with her partner, French national Maxime Medecin.

The news came via a video Cruz shared on social media, in which the couple is seen holding an ultrasound image and a pair of baby booties. Cruz described the news as "a great joy and blessing" for the couple.

Cruz and Medecin got engaged in December 2025 during a trip to Paris, in a proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower that the actress also shared publicly at the time.

Based outside Cuba, Cruz has built a large following in recent years through her "Lola Mento" character, which uses humor to comment on the everyday hardships faced by Cubans. The pregnancy announcement quickly drew congratulations from fans, colleagues and admirers on social media.
