Cuba will pay homage to Adela Legrá on a national day for Culture

Adela's face, who played the peasant woman in the third story of the trilogy with a woman's name, became over time one of the female icons of Cuban cinematography.

A tribute to Cuban actress Adela Legrá, one of the three Lucías, the anthology film by Humberto Solás, will center the program of the Provincial Film Center in Santiago de Cuba on the occasion of Cuban Culture Day.

Until next the 20th, the date dedicated to that celebration, the entity will develop various activities in order to highlight the trajectory of the artist on her 80th birthday, of which she has dedicated more than five decades to interpreting characters of strong personality on the big screen.

In addition to the reverence to Legrá, the 60 years of the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industry (Icaic) and the centennial of the Master of documentary, Santiago Álvarez, will be recognized, to whom the city dedicates the International Festival of that genre that bears his name.

Based in this city, the actress is one of the invitees to the Film Festival of the town of Gibara, in the north of the eastern province of Holguín, where she takes part in the tribute to Solás, renowned director of films that made history in the seventh art in the country.

With self-taught training from her peasant origins, she has assumed with deep authenticity each of her acting assignments, which is reflected in the documentary Manuela, el rostro rebelde del cine cubano, an Icaic production directed by Manuel F. Jorge.
