Coralita, Obelia, Diana Rosa, Molina, Echemendía and Dr. María Dolores Ortiz receive the National Prize for Radio and Television

The 2020 National Radio and Television Award was presented this Thursday in the capital, during an event held as part of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Cuban television.

In the presence of the Minister of Culture and the President of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), the radio program director María de los Dolores Moreira was honored; the announcer René González Dusart, and the programmer Ana María Hernández.

Likewise, the actresses Coralita Veloz, Diana Rosa Suárez and Obelia Blanco received recognition, as well as the actors Enrique Molina and Héctor Echemendia, along with the intellectual María Dolores Ortiz.

I am extremely happy, and even more so to be able to say that this award of mine is shared by the Veloz family, especially Coralia and Ramón, my mom and my dad, expressed Coralita Veloz.

To all the colleagues who have had anything to do with the recognition to grant us this award, we give our thanks, enormously happy, announced actor Enrique Molina.

Meanwhile, actor Héctor Echemendía expressed that it is a profession in which one is always learning, whoever says they have arrived is lying, instead of continuing to rise they begin to fall, because believing you know everything is fatal for an actor, one never knows when it will come, and that is the beauty of it, one always asks for more, he affirmed.

The programmer Ana María Hernández Guerra, the actresses Coralita Veloz Fernández, Diana Rosa Suárez Menéndez and Obelia Blanco, the actors Enrique Molina Hernández and Héctor Echemendía Ruiz de Villa and the distinguished Cuban intellectual María Dolores Ortiz Díaz were the award winners this year, by decision of the Board of Directors of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT).

According to a press release from the ICRT Communication Department, Hernández Guerra is Head of the Broadcasting and Videotape Production Group of Cuban Television, has 68 years of work experience, is an Artist of Merit and Small Screen Award winner.

Coralita Veloz, for her part, has been working in radio and television since childhood, where she has acted in multiple serials, novels and theatrical productions on TV, as well as in the hosting of musical programs, and has received recognitions such as the Award for best female performance for the film Hacerse el sueco, in the 2000 Contest of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.

Likewise, the actress, presenter, reciter and singer Diana Rosa Suárez has an extensive career in cinema, radio and television spanning more than 51 years of artistic life and has been recognized with an honorary title in the first edition of the Enrique Almirante Award (2015).

For his successful journey through theater, radio, television and cinema, standing out in spaces such as adventures and telenovelas, with unforgettable characters such as Silvestre Cañizo from Tierra Brava, the actor Enrique Molina is an Artist of Merit of the ICRT and ACTUAR Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Meanwhile, Héctor Hechemendía has worked in various media and stood out in important television productions such as Cuando el agua regresa a la tierra, Pasión y prejuicio, Entre mamparas and Tierra brava; and in cinema in El brigadista, Una mujer, un hombre, una ciudad; La Bella de la Alhambra and Amor Vertical.

Obelia Blanco, who is an Artist of Merit of the ICRT, has ventured into various television genres such as Short Stories, Theater, Adventures and mainly telenovelas and has obtained many recognitions as an actress and as an announcer in Radio Festivals, in the Caricato and Caracol.

On the other hand, María Dolores Ortiz, Doctor in Philological Sciences, Full Professor at the University of La Habana, Professor of Merit and Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba, has been highlighted for her contribution to the cultural formation of several generations of Cubans as a panelist on the program Escriba y Lea.
