The multinational American club Twenty24 renewed the signing of Cuban Olympic cyclist Marlies Mejías for the 2023 season, following a year full of successes.
The team's management on its Facebook page named the artemiseña as co-captain of the squad, recognized for its Olympic vocation.
Named Twenty24 in allusion to the Paris 2024 Olympics and previously Twenty20 in reference to Tokyo 2020, the team has featured cyclists who participated in the last three Olympic editions.
Mejías, multiple Central American champion, won numerous criteriums during 2022 in the United States, relatively short races on urban routes, as leader in a formation that included American Olympic champion Jennifer Valente and Mexican world silver medalist Sofía Arreola.
For Cuba, on May 12, 2022 Mejías won the spot for the time trial at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023 at the Pan-American Road Championship in Argentina.
