Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez and Spanish artist Lin Cortés are among the first artists confirmed today for the Habana World Music Festival (HWM), an event scheduled for March 19-21, 2020 in Havana.
Cortés, who will perform for the first time on the island, is known as the prince of the newest flamenco and mixes poetry, rock, jazz, symphonic elements and urban rhythms in his style, which he pairs with funk and soul.
Other musicians who have already announced their presence at the seventh edition of the event are urban music producer Waahli (Canada) and the Havana Meets Kingston project, which brings together musicians from Cuba and Jamaica.
Percussionist and singer Brenda Navarrete, the Nengón Kiribá lineup and the Toques del Río band complete the Cuban roster, according to the event's organizing committee.
Under the artistic direction of performer and composer Eme Alfonso, the capital of the Caribbean island will be the stage to enjoy a variety of trends and musical styles of the current times, where fusion is an essential part of creative processes.
According to Alfonso there will be many surprises for this edition and she said that 'the idea is to keep surprising the audience with different styles, languages, cultures and expressions, it is our hallmark and we will continue working in that direction'.
The Organizing Committee announced that on November 29 the HWM Fiesta! minifestival will take place, which will maintain the exchange of rhythms and sounds among artists from diverse cultural expressions.
