Honoris Causa Title Conferred on Cuban Intellectual Abel Prieto

The title of doctor Honoris Causa in Social Sciences was conferred this Thursday, in the city of Santa Clara, on Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto by the Universidad Central Marta Abreu de Las Villas, in central Cuba.

The current president of Casa de las Américas received the award from the hands of Luis Antonio Barranco, rector of the institution of higher learning.

Luis Morlote, an official from the auxiliary structure of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, read the text of praise for the honored recipient, written by the honorary president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), Miguel Barnet.

Abel Prieto, for his part, thanked the Universidad Central Marta Abreu de Las Villas for granting him such a high distinction and expressed his willingness to collaborate with the institution in the field of social sciences.

To that end, the author of Viajes de Miguel Luna and other texts, offered today a lecture on the program sow ideas, sow conscience, whose central theme is the struggle against cultural colonization.
