Five notable figures of art in Cuba will be invested next Friday with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, conferred by the Universidad Anglohispanomexicana (Uahm), a result of alliances that are expanding today in the cultural sphere.

The distinguished choreographer Lizt Alfonso, the general director of the Children's Theater Company La Colmenita, Carlos Alberto Cremata; the actor Jorge Perugorría, and visual artists Roberto Fabelo and Manuel Mendive will receive the high distinction in the Hemicycle of the Universal Art Building of the National Museum of Fine Arts, in this capital.

This investiture celebrates the work of decades of dedication, placing Cuba's name in a position of merit, declared exclusively to Prensa Latina by the Honorary Director of that important institution of higher learning, Daniel Martín.

The Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba company, led by the Cuban dancer and teacher, will enliven the ceremony, which will be attended by the former Culture Minister of Colombia, Patricia Ariza; Mexican senator Jorge Carlos Ramírez, among other personalities from both nations.

This year, the university with its main headquarters in Puebla has conferred the prestigious title on other Cuban artists such as pianist Frank Fernández and musician Edesio Alejandro, as well as the Spanish group Mocedades.

According to Martín, the Uahm has agreements with the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of La Habana and other educational institutions, collaborations that they wish to extend to the tourism sector.
