Cuban jazz arrived in Bogotá with the pianos of Rolando Luna and Aldo López Gavilán

The Bogotá audience enjoyed yesterday the virtuosity of Aldo López-Gavilán and Rolando Luna, two of the best exponents of Cuban piano who are participating in the International Jazz Festival being held in the capital of Colombia.

Both inaugurated the event with a duo performance in a concert titled "A dos pianos" at Teatro Colsubsidio, where Caribbean interpreters are promoted and qualified as two geniuses of music.

López-Gavilán was highlighted for his masterful career and his versatility characterized by his commitment to interpretation, conception and musical creation.

They also praise his dedication, which has allowed him to position himself within the mosaic of immense pianists from Cuba such as Chucho Valdés, Ernesto Lecuona, Ramón Valle, among many others.

Rolando Luna is praised for his multifaceted quality and his learning alongside great exponents of Cuban culture such as singer Omara Portuondo and the iconic group Buena Vista Social Club.

They also exalt his particular contribution to jazz, where he has developed a very personal and innovative style.

In his first participation in the Piano Solo Jazz competition in 2007 in Montreux, Switzerland, he won the first honorary prize and the audience prize, and is one of the pianists who has been most involved in the history of his country's discography participating in more than 200 albums in the last 20 years, they also recognize here.

Following the Cuban presentation will be others from renowned musicians including the Colombian ensemble Chigüire, one of the most distinguished groups of national jazz distinguished by a sound influenced by regional rhythms such as llanero joropo.

Also taking the stage at Teatro Colsubsidio will be Giacomo Turra Trío, coming directly from Italy, and Nduduzo Makhathini, a virtuoso South African pianist with Zulu roots who mixes African rhythms with Western jazz.
