A tribute to Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez at the Santa Clara cultural center La Luna Naranja, followed by the usual jam session, became the closing event, last Sunday, of the 24th edition of the National Festival of Troubadours Longina canta a Corona.

During the evening, songs composed by Silvio when he was part of the ICAIC Experimental Sound Group (GESI) —an organization to which the event was dedicated— were performed, such as Fusil contra fusil, Un hombre se levanta and Te doy una canción, sung by young Cuban troubadours, including Yeni Turiño, Pedrito O'Reilly, Frank Mitchel Chirino and Amaury del Río.

It is a privilege to have annually a space for singer-songwriter music like the Longina festival, and above all, to participate in this tribute concert to Silvio Rodríguez, an inspiration to so many young singer-songwriters; expressed the Santa Clara troubadour Yaily Orozco.

Furthermore, the member of the La Trovuntivitis collective and organizer of Longina, Raúl Marchena, thanked the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) of Villa Clara, the Provincial Culture Bureau and Cuba Ron for the support provided to the competition.

During the event La Trovuntivis also recognized personalities involved in this event, such as the Director of the television program Entre Manos, Juan Carlos Travieso; journalist Joaquín Borges Triana and Fidel Díaz Castro, director of the Cuban magazine El Caimán Barbudo.
