Jorge Perugorría's New Film Begins Rehearsals: "Neurotic Anonymous"

Renowned actor and filmmaker Jorge Perugorría announced the start of rehearsals for his new film Neurotic Anonymous.

The 2024 National Film Award winner shared images on his Instagram profile of this moment and details about the feature film that will be under his direction.

"Today we begin rehearsals! Mirtha Ibarra and Roberto Perdomo will play Iluminada and Osvaldo in Neurotic Anonymous, a film we will shoot during the month of August, in Havana, Cuba", the artist wrote on this social network, also alongside a photo with the two protagonists.

According to the Cubaactores website, the film is based on the theatrical work of the same name written by Mirtha Ibarra and tells the story of a woman, Iluminada, who after studying to become a Literature teacher, ends up working as an usher in a Havana cinema.

When the cinema falls into decline, Iluminada finds herself struggling to prevent the demolition of the place at all costs, "accompanied by the spiritual presence of iconic actresses such as Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Vivien Leigh, Anna Magnani and Audrey Hepburn", the publication on that site states.

The work was acclaimed in its theatrical version, and now Perugorría has taken on the task of bringing it to the big screen, adding it to his catalog as a film director.
