Cimafunk was highlighted by the renowned Rolling Stone magazine as "the Cuban artist known for having one of the most exciting live shows of 2022".

Through his Instagram account, the singer thanked the publication "for highlighting my music, and thank you for supporting great artists and culture for so many years!".

"Cimafunk was running through Havana airport last month after spending five days in Cuba with his family. He had to catch a flight to Florida, but just before boarding, his phone rang over and over again. When he finally answered, his team was on the other end of the line, telling him that El Alimento -the funk album he had quietly worked on with producer Jack Splash in 2021- had just been nominated for a Grammy for Best Latin or Alternative Rock Album", Rolling Stone reported.

According to the American magazine, Erick Iglesias after learning the news "had to get on the plane and return to the U.S., where he has been touring non-stop for the last few months", however, the singer promised to celebrate the achievement of his album at home. "A party is waiting for me as soon as I return to Cuba", he assured.

His latest album, "El Alimento" was what took Cimafunk's music "across borders", and according to the outlet it is "an exciting fusion of funk sounds from the U.S. and Cuba, with collaborations from George Clinton, Lupe Fiasco and giants of Cuban music like Los Papines".

Cimafunk said that his Grammy nomination was "the golden touch finale" for his album, and he also commented on the love received from the press and "the way people connected with it, everything felt like a gift".

Rolling Stone added that "people got excited with his live set, calling it a `non-stop amazing dance party´ and noting the `contagious energy´ of Cimafunk and his band".

Later on, it describes how "whether he's playing at a small club or a giant festival, Cimafunk runs back and forth across the stage, encouraging his fans and getting them to move".

Regarding the Cuban musician's upcoming performances, the magazine revealed that "he is preparing for a final show on New Year's Eve at Grand Park, Los Angeles. After that, he has more dates coming up, as well as new music, which has been inspired by his live show experience".

Erick himself commented that he is "working on a bunch of new things right now and they focus on the rhythm I've been finding every time I'm on stage".

Regarding this, Cimafunk adds that his new proposals "have a lot to do with the response of being in front of an audience, which has been playing a role in the arrangements and rhythms. I want everything to capture how the music feels when you see it in front of you".
