Cimafunk continues to give us singles from his most recent EP Cun Cun Prá and this Thursday he premiered the video clip for "Parar el tiempo". On this occasion with the participation of the promising Mexican interpreter and songwriter Salma, this new version makes the song different.

Salma put her touch on it, full of personality and flow, from the first verse. "She inserted her magic into the melody and made it her own," Cimafunk has said.

Despite having done it all remotely, "the process was quick and tasty". Salma has an R&B swing that Cimafunk really likes. "We tried with this version to play with time, through much slower beats to achieve a more R&B sound". Included as one of the five tracks on the EP Cun Cun Prá, Parar el tiempo is the perfect complement to the compilation because it slows down the pace and gives it a romantic touch.

The popular artist clarifies that, although the version is something new in his repertoire, especially because of the influence of Alfredo, "who is a producer with a lot of experience and who has a defined line," he is still looking for his sound, "the Cimafunk sound".

About the video clip, he highlights "the luck of having Néstor Kim directing, Elisa Granadillo in production and Flaco in editing. Together we assembled a team with a lot of good vibes and sensitivity. It was tremendous pleasure to do it". The pandemic made the production and filming process much more complicated, but alternatives were sought. "Both the band musicians and family members were part of this journey that begins with the awakening of the morning and ends with the sunset.

It's a clip with many beautiful and sweet images, above all real ones," Cimafunk indicates. In the words of the singer known for his style and appearance, inspired fundamentally by his African roots and the Black showmen of the twentieth century, "with each frame the video clip makes the viewer feel the importance of living the moment. While it's not possible to stop time, it is possible to cherish those instants that give meaning to life".

On the other hand, he assures that the EP hasn't finished its journey yet, but he has been surprised by how much people connected with the material, especially with the song Cun Cun Prá. "It was produced mostly from home and with a lot of relaxation because its objective above all is that, to transmit peace and give something delicious to people while the shows don't start. Today many who plugged in quickly with the news, are out there enjoying the Cun Cun Prá," he concludes. Cun Cun Prá, the main single from the EP, quickly became a hit on the charts in Cuba and Miami, and on social media, through the #challengecuncunpra, in which thousands of people from around the world participated.

Even OprahWinfrey magazine shared the winning video in which three generations of Cuban women move to the rhythm of the melody. Chosen by Billboard as one of the "Top 10 Latino Artists to Follow," Cimafunk stole the show at the South by Southwest Music Festival in 2019 and has since performed numerous tours throughout the United States and Europe.

Fito Paez referred to him as "the future" and Rolling Stone described his music as an "electric combination of funk and soul, over a five-beat clave or like the heartbeat of Cuban music, brought to Cuba by slaves from West Africa." The name Cimafunk alludes to his roots as a cimarrón (Cuban of African descent who resisted and escaped slavery) and represents the essence of his music, which seeks to subvert conventional sounds, by mixing the best of Cuban rhythms and traditions with African and American sounds and styles.

Lyrics

I don't know if one day I'll have to live without you

Or I don't even want to imagine it

Without my hair scattered on your body

And the mornings where everything reaches me

I don't know without your honey

How to end the night and dream candy

I don't know what comes next

From the love you give me this river I feel

I don't want to think, if it's a matter of destiny

I'll have to wait

I'm going to stop time

One of these days, while I kiss you beautiful

I'm going to stop time

You won't notice, it will be soft and slow

They say those who know say it's better to be ready

That life goes around and everything changes and everything changes

Me who has never been so in love

I stay prisoner, happy in your chest

I just want to be

Make this moment last

Nothing else matters

I'm going to stop time

One of these days, while I kiss you beautiful

I'm going to stop time

You won't notice, it will be soft and slow

I'm going to stop time

One of these days, while I kiss you beautiful

I'm going to stop time

You won't notice, it will be soft and slow
