On the occasion of the World Music Day celebration being held internationally on June 21, pianists Chucho Valdés, from Cuba, and Stefano Bollani, from Italy, will offer a concert in Havana.
The evening was scheduled in the García Lorca Hall of the Gran Teatro de La Habana 'Alicia Alonso', and is sponsored by the Italian embassy in Cuba, according to a statement sent to Prensa Latina.
Valdés is considered one of the leading exponents of Cuban jazz, winner of six Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammys, among other important recognitions.
For his part, Bollani is one of the most prolific musicians in Italy, with an important career thanks to his foray into jazz, classical music, popular and traditional music from Europe and other parts of the world.
The artist born in Milan has already shared with the island's audience on the occasion of the XX Week of Italian Culture in Cuba, in 2017, and is recognized for his technique and way of combining styles and genres as a composer and performer.
The performance of both pianists will be another occasion to highlight the idea that music goes beyond borders and cultures, in addition to reaffirming the excellent ties that unite Cuba and Italy in different areas.
Coinciding with the summer solstice day, June 21, the World Music Day celebration is held, an initiative that originated in France and takes place every year, worldwide, since the mid-1980s.
