Chucho, Paquito D'Rivera, Omara, Orquesta Faílde, Pablo, Camila Cabello, Alain Pérez among other Cuban musicians nominated for Latin Grammys

The nominations for the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards have just been released and there are Cuban artists vying for the gramophone.

In the first category where Cubans appear is Best Latin Jazz/Jazz Album. There are Chucho Valdés and Paquito D'Rivera with their album I Missed You Too! and Iván "Melón" Lewis, with his production Bembé.

Paquito D'Rivera is also nominated in the Best Contemporary Classical Work/Composition section with his Concerto Venezolano.

The category with the most nominated Cubans is Best Traditional Tropical Album. There compete: Y sigo pa'lante, by Septeto Santiaguero; Vida, by Omara Portuondo; Danzoneando, by Orquesta Faílde, and Tierra, by Estrella Acosta. Additionally, there is the album En Tiempo De Son… Homenaje A Las Canciones de Jorge Luis Piloto, by Septeto Acarey, founded in Peru by Cuban Reynier Pérez.

As Best Tropical Song, the tracks compete: Días de luz, from the posthumous album by Pablo Milanés and Ambulancia, by Camila Cabello and Camilo.

The album Tierra y libertad, by Plena79 Salsa Orchestra together with Alain Pérez and Jeremy Bosch is vying for the gramophone as Best Salsa Album.

Cuban Renesito Avich, with his album Tres is the only one from the Island in the Best Instrumental Album category.

More nominated Cubans
Among those nominated for Best Recording of the Year is Juan Mario Aracil. This Cuban participated in Si tú me quieres, by Fonseca and Juan Luis Guerra and La fórmula, by Maluma and Marc Anthony.

As producer of the Fonseca and Juan Luis Guerra track, Cuban Yadam González appears nominated.

In the Best Long Form Music Video category is Yotuel accompanied by Beatriz Luengo, Michael Fux and Gloria Rubin for Patria Y Vida: The Power Of Music.

At the gala to be held on November 16, Arturo Sandoval will be awarded the Latin Grammy Award for Musical Excellence. For the first time the Latin Grammys will take place outside the United States. On this occasion the gala will be held in Seville, Spain.
