David Calzado and his Charanga Habanera has managed to bring together in a new musical production "the charangueros of old," which brings to mind several of the most important moments in the history of the popular Cuban dance music orchestra. Randy Malcom, Yulien Oviedo, El Boni, Dantes Cardosa, Michel Maza and Aned Mota, in addition to the singers who currently are part of the group's roster, were chosen to be part of Pidamos, a song with "a hopeful message in these times of pandemic".
"I am very happy to have made a project that I had dreamed about for a long time. We are making history with this song, which has such a hopeful message in these times of pandemic.
I have taken the opportunity to call upon the charangueros who have passed through the orchestra over the years and who have had much success in their solo careers, which makes me tremendously proud," said David Calzado, director of Charanga Habanera.
The official video of the song was launched last Friday on Charanga Habanera's official YouTube channel as well as on all digital music platforms. "The song brings a message of hope and love to the world, and especially to the Cuban people, in these difficult times of pandemic.
It is a call to maintain peace and faith for all those who lost a loved one," commented Randy Malcom, current member of Gente de Zona. This project has a very special meaning for David Calzado, as it features the former members of his iconic orchestra, which has more than 32 years of career in the Latin music industry.
