Chanel expressed she was 'ready' to reposition Spain at the top of the festival and she delivered. The Spanish representative at Eurovision 2022 achieved third place, the bronze medal, in the musical competition held on the night of Sunday, May 14 on the stage of the Pala Olímipico in Turin (Italy), which vibrated and went wild with her performance.

With her song 'SloMo', the Spanish artist of Cuban origin, gathered a total of 459 points, coming from countries as diverse as San Marino, Armenia, Portugal, Sweden, Australia, Ireland, North Macedonia and Malta, which awarded us twelve, the maximum distinction. It is the best result that RTVE has achieved since 1995, when Anabel Conde achieved second place with the song 'Vuelve Conmigo'.

That said, the predictions fulfilled their forecast in the closest final in recent years. Ukraine, with the band Kalush Orchestra, managed to take the crystal microphone that gave it victory at the festival. They achieved a total of 631 points, receiving support from the majority of European countries, including Spain. In the public vote they swept with 439. This country's entry, immersed in a war since late February after the Russian invasion, mixes rap with Ukrainian folk music. The song is titled 'Stefania' and is a tribute to the mother of the group's leader, Oleh Psiuk.

The ten most voted countries in Eurovision were

Ukraine 631 points: Kalush Orchestra sings 'Stefania'

United Kingdom 466 points: Sam Ryder sings 'Space Man'

Spain 459 points: Chanel sings 'SloMo'

Sweden 438 points: Cornelia Jakobs sings 'Hold Me Closer'

Serbia 312 points: Konstrakta sings 'In Corpore Sano'

Italy 268 points: Blanco and Mahmood sing 'Brividi'

Moldova 253 points: Zdob şi Zdub & Frații Advahov sing 'Trenulețul'

Greece 215 points: Amanda Tenfjord sings 'Die Together'

Portugal 207 points: Maro sings 'Saudade, saudade'

Norway 182 points: Subwoolfer sings 'Give that wolf a banana'

The surprise of the night also fell on a country that no longer belongs to the EU. This is the United Kingdom which, like Spain, had fallen behind in recent editions of Eurovision.

In Turin, however, it achieved the silver medal with the song 'Space Man' performed by Sam Ryder, an emerging talent who became known during the pandemic on TikTok and who captured the attention of artists like Justin Bieber and Alicia Keys.

The eyes of the Spanish were fixed on RTVE's candidacy. Chanel turned her three minutes on stage into a performance worthy of an international star. Pure spectacle for an edition of Eurovision in which ballads and slow songs predominated. There was no shortage of pyrotechnics, color and lighting, with an artist who nailed her interpretation. She broke the stage and the pavilion came down. 'SloMo' was one of the most cheered and applauded songs during the almost four hours that the show lasted. And she said goodbye to the audience, moved, saying that she would never forget in her life what had happened there. Later, backstage, she couldn't hold back the tears of joy.
