Acosta Danza, a company directed by Carlos Acosta Quesada, performed on Monday, June 4 at the Wales Millennium Center, in the Welsh city of Cardiff.

The Cuban company is undertaking a tour of venues in the United Kingdom and France with a program made up of well-known works from its repertoire.

On May 31 and June 1, the group performed with great success on the stage of the Royal Theatre in Norwich, a city in Norfolk county.

Continuing the tour, Acosta Danza will perform in France for the first time on June 7 and 8, during the celebrations of the Festival Les nuits de Fourviere, in Lyon.

The program is composed of the choreographies "El cruce sobre el Niágara," an anthological piece of Cuban modern dance, created in 1987 by Marianela Boán; Belles Lettres, a neoclassical creation by American Justin Peck, with music by César Frank.

Also to be performed are the choreographies Imponderable, by Goyo Montero, based on the musical and poetic work of Silvio Rodríguez; Mermaid, a duet by Belgian Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, to be interpreted by Carlos Acosta and Marta Ortega, and Twelve, by Jorge Crecis, in which dance, sport, and mathematics are fused.

Acosta Danza, which was founded in 2015 by Carlos Acosta, had its premiere in April 2016.

The company aims to offer inclusive performances combining contemporary and neoclassical styles, without disregarding other expressions, periods, and styles of the dance art.
