The renowned Cuban dancer, choreographer and director Carlos Acosta has been appointed a member of the Board of Governors of The Royal Ballet School, another award on his already long list of international recognitions and achievements.
This Caribbean native, who last January assumed the direction of Birmingham Royal Ballet, said he was delighted by the invitation to join the Board of Governors of The Royal Ballet School.
"I hope to bring a broader perspective to the direction and future plans of the school. The presence and influence of Birmingham Royal Ballet on the Board provides a golden opportunity to celebrate our historical relationship with The Royal Ballet School," Acosta commented.
Likewise, it emerged that Christopher Rodríguez, president of The Royal Ballet School, was proud to welcome to the Board this great figure of world dance, arguing that he will bring to the school his passion for dance and a clear vision of its future.
Similarly, he argued that Carlos Acosta's perspective as new director of Birmingham Royal Ballet "will prove invaluable in helping the school maintain its crucial relationship with that dance company," the official statement explained.
