Cuban-American singer Camila Cabello will perform in the pre-ceremony of the Champions League football final for the 2021-22 season that will pit Real Madrid against Liverpool on May 28 at the Stade de France in Paris, UEFA announced in a statement.

25-year-old Camila Cabello rose to fame with the group Fifth Harmony, but in recent years has become internationally known for songs like 'Havana', 'Señorita', and 'Bam Bam'. This has earned her the opportunity to perform ten minutes before the match that will decide the next champion of Europe.

"I am very excited to take the stage at the UEFA Champions League final in Paris this month! I intend to deliver a truly special show that brings together the spirit of my Latino heritage and a sense of unity for sports and music fans around the world," the singer declared to UEFA.

This is the sixth edition of the opening ceremony for the UEFA Champions League final, which aims to give the match a spectacular atmosphere in which music and dance are the main attractions in the moments before a match that will be broadcast to more than 200 countries around the world.

UEFA's marketing director, Guy-Laurent Epstein, was very pleased to organize a "highly entertaining opening ceremony" for the Paris final on May 28.

"These events always provide the maximum cross-pollination of sports and music that we know fans love to see, and Pepsi is the perfect partner to help us do it. We know that Camila Cabello is one of the most popular artists in the world and will help us harness our fans' excitement for the Opening Ceremony performance with a show that football fans will never forget," Epstein explained.

For his part, Pepsi's global marketing vice president, Eric Melis, highlighted how his company and UEFA have been improving this spectacle since 2016. "We are delighted to return to live shows in stadiums and to bring Camila Cabello to the stage this year. Pepsi has a long and rich heritage in entertainment, and this year's show will not disappoint, as we bring elements of Camila's Latino spirit to one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year," he assured.
