Good streak for Alfredo Despaigne last weekend

During the Asian baseball weekend there were very good performances by Cuban players, in a period marked by the great demonstration of Alfredo Despaigne, who once again showed his power, something that Leonys Martín also did. Additionally, in the Korean League (KBO), Yasiel Puig extended his hitting streak and José Miguel Fernández continued adding hits to his record.

The slugger from Gran Ma who plays for the Softbank Hawks, Alfredo Despaigne, in recent games batted 11-5 with a home run (sixth of the campaign), and shows that his recovery is serious in the campaign.

Additionally, Despaigne scored on two occasions and drove in three runs. After this performance, he has seven consecutive games batting at least one hit, his best streak of this season.

Meanwhile, in the same circuit, Leonys Martín returned to action this weekend with the Chibba Lotte Marines, after being out for a month, since July 1st, when they decided to send him down to the second team due to his poor performance.

In his return, the player from Villa Clara connected three hits in 12 at-bats, including his eighth home run of this contest. He received two walks, and scored and drove in two runs.

Another Cuban in that championship, Pedro Revilla, who debuted just a week ago with the Chunichi Dragons, produced 10-5 with a double among his hits and one RBI in the weekend that just concluded. In his first six games in Japan, Revilla has hit five singles, a double and a home run, and shows a batting average of .350.

Meanwhile, from the mound, Yariel Rodríguez threw another inning without allowing runs last Sunday. The pitcher recorded two strikeouts to increase his total to 37, added a Hold (20) and his ERA decreased to 1.95.

Cubans stand out in Korea

In the Korean Baseball League, the Wild Horse of the Kiwoon Heroes, Yasiel Puig, continues to have very productive games. Last weekend, in ten at-bats, he hit five hits, two of them home runs. He drove in four runs and scored two, additionally, he was awarded two walks.

Puig has hit safely in nine consecutive games and has hit three home runs in his last 4 games, which increased his total to 13.

José Miguel Fernández continues accumulating hits in his career in Korean baseball. In recent games he batted 12-4 with two RBIs and one run scored, and also obtained two walks. At this moment of the contest, he is in fourth place in two departments, in batting average with (.321) and in hits with 120, which he has achieved in 94 games; he also has 59 RBIs.
