The president of the Instituto Latino de la Música (ILM), Daniel Martín, offered an advance on social media of a tribute project to Cuba's prima ballerina assoluta, Alicia Alonso.

The artist is working alongside the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Egrem), the most relevant record label on this island, on an album dedicated to the dancer who was invested by the ILM with the title of Star of the Century for having left a lasting mark through time.

In this way, it is intended to pay tribute to the dancer in the year of the centennial of her birth, which took place in this capital on December 21, 1920.

According to Martín's details, it is a compilation album of many of the great songs that were made for Alonso.

Not all of them fit on one recording, but a selection was made and we added five new songs. From there, I would like to highlight the works of two great masters: Chucho Valdés and Frank Fernández, who contributed their talent in this sense of tribute, he attested.

According to Martín, Fernández contributed a lot to one of his themes, Maravillosa Mujer, chosen to make a music video directed by audiovisual director Luis Ernesto González.

Precisely, the president of the ILM shared on social media this Monday some promotional posters of that work that allow you to appreciate Alonso transformed into an animated drawing and after praising the project asks: What do you think about seeing her in animation again?

His family is happy with this process and it will be launched before his centennial date, the artist also declared.

The renowned Ecuadorian violinist Jorge Saade also participates in the album, who received the Batuta Prize in 2019, a counterpart to the Grammy but granted in recognition of world personalities of classical and concert music.
