These days, not a few media outlets have reported on the appearance of the first film in Netflix history to receive the rating "adults only". This work is none other than Blonde, a film by Andrew Dominik, based on the life of Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe. Amid all the commotion, the name of Ana de Armas, who stars in it, returns to the media spotlight.

The film will premiere this year, after several delays. Several sites specify that it has been waiting for months, because it contains "too much sex". That was the condition that led the executives of the streaming platform to classify it as not recommended for minors under 17 years old, according to what is established in the Classification and Rating Administration bulletin of the Motion Picture Association of the USA.

The Cuban actress, who was previously in works such as Knives Out (2019) and Blade Runner: 2049 (2019), received the leading role, but initially, actresses Naomi Watts and Jessica Chastain were being considered for that position.

About the plot, it is only known that it is a biopic, based on a certain stage in the life of the diva, which is also covered in the homonymous novel by Joyce Carol Oates.

Meanwhile, Esquire alludes to the fact that the film had a production that lasted more than ten years and was supposed to have had its premiere at the past Venice Film Festival in 2021. For that website, it sounded like a strong contender for the Oscars, and its director announced it as "one of the ten best films in history". On that same site, they mentioned some of the scenes that horrified those who saw it and led it to receive the "adults only" rating: they referred to a rape and a "bloody menstrual cunnilingus".

At some point, according to reports, the option of censoring those scenes was considered, but they have not given in, and therefore, the film has been recommended for a specific age range.

Long before all these controversies broke out, the director commented that it would be a demanding audiovisual and highlighted his protagonist's performance: "the only thing that no one is going to complain about is [Ana de Armas's] performance".

The native of Santa Cruz del Norte left Cuba for Spain with 300 euros and now Hollywood is fighting over her. After being a Bond girl in No time to die (2021), the latest installment of the James Bond saga, and sharing the cast with her ex-boyfriend, Ben Affleck, in Deep Water (2022), she will appear in Blonde alongside great artists such as Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale and Julianne Nicholson. In this way, she becomes part of that list of actresses who have played the Hollywood icon, which includes Ashley Judd, Mira Sorvino, Michelle Williams, Uma Thurman, among others.

In some images that have surfaced, it has been possible to see the Cuban actress with a very changed look, but one that inevitably recreates very well, at least physically, one of mainstream cinema's favorite blondes.
