Blanca Rosa Blanco will return to Cuban stages

In March 2018, the Cuban theatrical landscape seemed to revolutionize when Jazz Vilá premiered Farándula. It was in the lineup from March through December and at that time was presented as "a wonderful work, a comedy of four characters, whose plot unfolds in an intimate tone and has as its setting a room, where there is only a sofa and a table.

It addresses, above all, love, friendship, and gratitude. The conflict breaks out based on a photo taken of a person while they are sleeping and the characters begin to question themselves whether it is art or not".

Over time, Farándula gained seasons and gradually other figures such as Alain Daniel joined. During the pandemic stage it reinvented itself thanks to live broadcasts on social networks, the piece was also taken to Miami and later it became known that it will become a movie.

In 2022, the end of the work was announced after its 200th function in Havana, following four years in the lineup. However, to the followers of Jazz Vilá Projects we announce that Farándula Deluxe will soon be presented.

About this, Jazz told us exclusively: "it is a special luxury season, dedicated to the 64th anniversary of ICAIC, that is why we are going to do it at the Charles Chaplin cinema, which, furthermore, will be the first time it will serve as a stage for a theatrical season"… but these are not the only news.

The production will also mark the return to the stage of an actress very beloved by the public: Blanca Rosa Blanco. "She arrived at this project because we are united by many years of friendship; I have the deepest respect for her as an actress and I also profess incredible admiration for her as a person. While we were talking I made her the proposal and she trusted me and took the risk. Farándula Deluxe has Blanca Rosa Blanco because she came from the heart".

The characters in the work are Sara, a nurse; Elena, a doctor; Lorenzo, a photographer and El Yoyo, a young man who has come to Havana from the eastern part of the country.

The role of Sara has been played by Yeni Martínez, Danae Hernández, and Yeni Soria, among other actresses. On this occasion, the opportunity will fall to Blanco, "who will be a very special woman, completely remastered, with a very particular vocabulary and language. I am sure that more than one of the new phrases she brings will remain in the collective imagination and in popular slang, but those are surprises that people will have to discover in the theater".

"The characteristics that this role has are the ones they already know: she is the nurse and she exploits that job a lot. I'm talking about a character that is closer to the version of Sara that we will be able to enjoy in the film, than to the Sara that has been seen on stage so far in previous versions", he added.

On the other hand, he mentioned that there will be many new developments, which he cannot reveal much about. The premiere will take place on March 4th and will have seven unique functions, starting on that date and then returning during the 10th and 11th, 17th and 18th, 31st of March and April 1st as the season finale.

Another new element is that, through the company's WhatsApp, people will be able to reserve tickets for any of the seven functions, something that will ease the process of lines and wait times, Jazz added. Finally, and no less importantly, the cast will be "completely new and that gives them a totally fresh vision of the work, since most of the actors involved have not seen the previous productions. The staging has undergone several changes: the sofa is maintained as an iconic element, but the costumes and much of the text has also been remastered, as is traditional in the piece, and it has been adapted to our new times. More surprises will be able to be enjoyed starting March 4th", concluded the young actor, director, producer, and playwright.
