Yanitsia Canetti

Graduate in Journalism from the Universidad de la Habana, with a Master's degree in Linguistics and a Doctorate in Latin American Literature. She has published more than sixty books—novels, short stories, poetry, theater—(mainly for children and young adults), more than two thousand articles for the press in Cuba, Spain, Italy, United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and other countries, and numerous reviews and literary critiques for specialized magazines around the world.

With command of Spanish, English, and Italian languages, she has translated more than one hundred books for children, among which are some classics of English-language children's literature, such as Dr. Seuss books, Berenstein Bears, Amelia Bedelia, Curious George, among others.

National Literature Prize La Rosa Blanca, awarded to the best books published in Cuba (1994); National Literature Prize in Poetry, awarded for three consecutive years by the Ministry of Education of Cuba, 1984, 1985, 1986; Honorable Mention in Journalism, awarded by The National Association of Hispanic Publications, United States, 1997, Influential Hispanic Prize 2004 (Hispanic Image Magazine 2004), among other awards and distinctions.
