Sprinter who attended three Olympic Games and seven world championships (including outdoor and indoor events), and three Pan American Games. Licensed in Physical Culture since 2006.
Virgen measures 1.62 m and weighs 54 kg.
She participated in the Beijing Olympics, 2008 in the 100 meters race where in her heat she ran 11.45 seconds, and did not reach the semifinals.
She was born in the municipality of Songo La Maya in Santiago, which she was unwilling to leave even after more than ten years of training in the Cuban capital.
After retirement she is a professor at the José Maceo sports complex in her hometown, where she lives with her mother, Ofelia. She is currently one of the collaborators of the Barrio Adentro Deportivo mission in Venezuela.
She was an active athlete from 1998 to 2009, participating in multiple international events such as the Alba Games 2009 where she won a gold medal, the Ibero-American Championship 2004 with a gold medal, and Central American and Pan American Games throughout these years in the 100 meters and the 4x100 relay.
