Graduate of Choral Direction from the Instituto Superior de Artes de La Habana Cuba.
Founder of Musikartis, a bilingual musical curriculum, and works as a producer, teacher, and representative. She has been nominated on several occasions for a Latin Grammy. Ruesga was nominated for the Latin Grammy for the albums En el patio de tu casa (2009), Insectos y bicharracos (2010), and Canciones de agua (2012), and in 2014 for the album Rumba Flora: La Historia De Uva Y Garbancito.
Rita Rosa has proven to be a great expert in the world of children through her stories and albums.
Her book Los mariachis (Scholastic, 2013), by Cuban singer-songwriter and writer Rita Rosa Ruesga, won first place in the Best Illustrated Children's Book in Spanish category at the sixteenth edition of the International Latino Books Awards.
She studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes de La Habana and graduated as a choral director with teachers María Elena Sierra and Alina Orraca. In 1992 she went to Mexico for a year and taught music at a conservatory. In Miami, she worked alongside Maiten Montenegro producing children's segments for the television program Sábado gigante on Univisión, while also teaching classes in that city.
Her first album was Rita Rosa, and with her second, Rita Rosa en el patio de tu casa, she obtained her first nomination at the 2009 Latin Grammy Awards. This CD includes traditional Hispanic songs and four original compositions.
The third album, Insectos y bicharracos, which came out in 2010, is also a musical theater production of the same name that she wrote together with Julio C. Almaguer. This CD received another nomination at the Latin Grammy Awards. The songs included discuss beetles, spiders, mosquitoes, cockroaches, bumblebees, ladybugs, and ants, among other insects. Another Latin Grammy nomination came in 2012 for Canciones de agua, which includes songs created with various artists that show how to help care for and save the planet's water. Her music producers have been Bayron Ramos and Jorge L. Sosa, with whom she shares authorship of several songs.
