El Necio
Pedro Jorge Velázquez, known on social media as "El Necio", is a Cuban journalist and content creator. He has been characterized by his work as a communicator on digital platforms, where he addresses issues related to Cuban reality, the country's economic and social situation, and the difficulties faced by citizens in their daily lives.
His work on social media has generated both followers and criticism, due to his positions and comments on various topics of current Cuban affairs. He has used accessible and direct language to connect with young audiences, becoming a recognized voice in the Cuban digital media landscape.
In February 2026, the United States government imposed visa restrictions on him, accusing him of participating in harassment campaigns against United States diplomats in Cuba, specifically against the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Havana, Mike Hammer. Velázquez categorically denied these accusations and presented himself as a victim of political retaliation.
