Musician (clarinetist and saxophonist), arranger and orchestra conductor considered one of the greats of Cuban music.
Born in Santiago, he is considered one of the greats of Cuban music, with outstanding achievements including having been founder of the Orquesta de Música Moderna and its director, as well as director of the Oriente orchestra among others.
Also a founding member of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Oriente, he held the titles of Professor Emeritus of the University in that city and the decoration Por la Cultura Nacional, and to his credit was also the direction of orchestras in festivals held in Germany, Czechoslovakia, Mexico, Bulgaria, and Poland, among other countries.
He worked as arranger and musical director of the orchestra at the Cabaret Parisién of the Hotel Nacional.
At the time of his death, he was working as arranger and musical director of the orchestra at the Cabaret Parisién of the Hotel Nacional. He was buried in the Necrópolis de Colón at the age of 69.
