Oscar Patterson Chapman

Maestro Patterson

Graduate of the National School of Art of Cuba. Member of the Cuban Association of Craftspeople and Artists (ACAA). Recipient of the UNESCO Second Prize for Craftsmanship for Latin America and the Caribbean (1995), FIART Prize (1995) for the piece that best expressed cultural and aesthetic values, among many others.

He also holds the Distinction for National Culture (Cuba 1995). His works are treasured in numerous private collections in Cuba and throughout the world.

Master Patterson, as friends and admirers call him, was and is recognized worldwide as the master of leather work. Possessing a comprehensive artistic body of work in painting, engraving, drawing, artistic craftsmanship, and design—both graphic, industrial, and costume design—he has always been characterized by his excellence and creative ingenuity. He was the recipient of multiple national and international prizes in fairs and exhibitions.
