Distinguished Cuban historian and university professor. Doctor of Historical Sciences from the University of La Habana.
Born in La Habana.
Full Professor of Cuban History in the School of Philosophy and History at the University of La Habana.
He gave lectures at universities in several countries and was a contributor to different digital media outlets. He worked as a visiting professor in Mexico, Spain, and Germany, and participated in various scientific events in Cuba and abroad.
Member of the Scientific Council of the UH, President of the Commission of Scientific Degrees in Social Sciences and Humanities of the UH, Member of the Scientific Council of the Martiano Studies Center.
He was also a member of the Union of Historians of Cuba (UNHIC), where he held high responsibilities within the Executive of the Secretariat of La Habana; the Historical and Social Literature Section of the Association of Writers, Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC); the Association of Historians of Latin America and the Caribbean (ADHILAC).
He was vice dean of the School of Philosophy and History (1993-1997) of the University of La Habana, in which he chaired the Doctorate Commission.
He delivered remarks at the ceremony for the awarding of the annual Scientific-Technical Criticism Prize, held on January 27, 2011 in the Federico García Lorca Hall of the Dulce María Loynaz Cultural Center.
He was invited by the Institute of History on March 20, 2013, to the panel "Revolutions in History: Historiographical Notes," together with Yoel Cordoví Núñez.
He died in La Habana on September 5, 2014, at the age of 65, as a result of a serious traffic accident.
