Mario Fernández

Born in La Habana. During his student years he was part of the Bataclán Universitario.

As a professional actor he worked for the Dirección de Cultura —Juana en la Hoguera, by Claudel-Honegger (Cuban premiere, dir. Baralt, 1951)—; Los Comediantes —La importancia de llamarse Ernesto (dir. Vigón, 1953)—. Sala Arlequín (Lunes de Teatro Cubano) —El biombo, by Ariza (1962)—. He was part of the cast that premiered Aire frío, by V. Piñera (dir. H. Arenal, 1962).

He performed at the Prometeo hall —Mi bella dama (dir. F. Morín, 1967)—. He is particularly remembered for his performance in the work Quiéreme mucho, by V. Reyes and E. Robreño-Roig, for the Jorge Anckermann group, at the Martí theater, where he played the theater artist Agustín Rodríguez.

He also participated in the premieres of Calixta Comité, by Hernández Espinosa (1980) and Confrontación, by Nicolás Dorr (1989), at the Covarrubias hall.

He has worked as a singing teacher.
