Announcer of the popular program Mediodía en TV on Cuban Television. The Telecommunications Engineer, today a multi-awarded announcer, is appreciated for his sobriety, care of language, knowledge and quality in his interviews, security and confidence in his delivery.
Marino was born in Havana, at the National Hospital, spent his childhood and adolescence in the Arroyo Apolo neighborhood, or Blue Neighborhood, very close to La Palma. As a child he was passionate about the plastic arts: painting and modeling with clay. In fact, his maternal grandfather sensed that his destiny would go in that direction, however, young Marino Luzardo decided to believe that he would wear spotless white coats for life.
Later he leaned toward psychology, but his grades weren't high enough and he remained somewhat in limbo. Telecommunications Engineering caught his attention when he read its profile, the possibility of getting into telephony seemed most interesting to him. Shortly after entering university he knew he wasn't going to retire as an engineer, but he decided to graduate and then take other paths.
He studied Telecommunications Engineering, graduated in 1992 and worked at ETECSA until December 2002.
He approached announcing first as a listener and television viewer, he was drawn to the way the hosts spoke, their ease, their naturalness, their charm. And although it really seemed very far from those fields, he began to discover that unconsciously he would say: "I would have done that differently, it seems he or she (the presenter) didn't have that information, because what worked was saying such and such a thing." In short, he even came to question the work of those notable professionals. All his friends told him he had a good voice, that he seemed like an announcer, and he took it seriously.
It was in 1994 that he took the announcing course with teachers like Antonio Pera, Ángel Hernández, Rubio Casanova, and every now and then Manolo Ortega would appear in the classroom.
He owes radio his first opportunities before a microphone: first at Radio Metropolitana thanks to Lianet Pérez, and then as a professional at Radio Reloj, where he was trained by professor Ibrahim Aput.
Definitely that place is the school, where you encounter announcers who by just watching them are giving you a lesson in what you should and shouldn't do. He will never forget the early morning of his "baptism," on January 1st, 2003.
Marino's talent is impressive. He captures the audience's attention in a spectacular way.
On television he was first a substitute for Laritza Camacho, thanks to her recommendation. Later, on a regular basis, "De tarde en casa" appeared, a live space with a large television audience where he remained for 12 years. There he first shared with Miosotis Parapar and later with Rakel Mayedo.
But doing Mediodía en TV has been my greatest challenge because it's a prime-time space that is broadcast live and in which he has been able to use his knowledge and tools as an announcer, where every day he realizes he is never sufficiently prepared and in which he has encounters with professionals from the most diverse fields. Trying to come out ahead of the unexpected that might appear, trying to make the conversation engaging and be close to both the interviewee and the television viewer at the same time, turns out to be the most difficult. This is a program that challenges the intellect.
Marino also has important work in dubbing on TV, and for some of his work he has even received awards.
He has pending the creation of a space about the seven wonders of Cuban Civil Engineering, of which some programs and a documentary about Orquesta Aragón have been recorded.
Marino has demonstrated that he not only knows how to be a magnificent off-screen announcer at Sitio del Arte, but in front of the cameras he is definitely someone to count on.
Luzardo has a sober style, always from a solid cultural preparation, he has known how to find in that line the right communicative bridge between guests, announcers and television viewers.
Currently his partner on the popular Mediodía en TV program hosted by Cuban television channels is Bárbara Sánchez Novoa who hosts this program alongside him with great acceptance from television viewers.
He also worked for 15 years on the program De Tarde en Casa on Educational Channel 2 in the company of Rakel Mayedo.
