He has made many recordings for EMI. Notably his recording of the Concierto de Aranjuez, with Plácido Domingo as conductor and the "Concierto Barroco," with Víctor Pablo Pérez and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, receiving a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Classical Recording.

He began studying guitar at age eight at the Conservatorio Esteban Salas y Castro in Santiago de Cuba, his native city. His intense international activity leads him to perform each year in the most important music capitals, among which stand out: New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Monaco, Madrid, Barcelona, Chicago, Seoul, Copenhagen, Athens, Taipei, Singapore, Hong Kong, Munich, etc.
